Intel Arc B570 / B580 crash in Star Wars Outlaws
Star Wars Outlaws crashes routinely for me on both of my test systems when I’m running benchmarks while using an Intel Arc Battlemage GPU. Things have improved a bit since the B580 launch, but even with the latest drivers, the B570 still has the same issue on a regular basis and I have to run the game multiple times in order to capture all of my benchmarks.

Prepping for RTX 5090 and 5080 reviews by retesting RTX 4090 - how many GPUs can I get through!?

Nvidia will be launching its RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards on January 30. I have overhauled our test bench, including new games and new hardware, which means I have to retest all the other GPs as well. It’s going to be a very busy two weeks! And it won’t stop with the 5090 and 5080. After those we have the RTX 5070 Ti and the 5070, and AMD‘s RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 will arrive at some poi...
Manor Lords: Ghosting in AA/upscaling algorithms - TAA, FSR, XeSS, DLSS compared
Переглядів 4389 місяців тому
This is a quick video showing how there are areas, particularly in the forest, where the TAA (temporal anti-aliasing) in Manor Lords fails quite horribly. All of the content was captured on an RTX 4070 Super, but the results were the same with other AMD and Intel GPUs. There are still artifacts with DLSS, XeSS, and FSR, but they're not nearly as distracting as with TAA mode.

This is a look at some of the shimmering and artifacts presently seen in the first early access build of Manor Lords. Things will likely change in the future, but right now you can see that TAA and FSR both produce visible shimmering on some objects.

Sparkle Arc A580 Orc OC Oscillating Fan Speed
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
Sparkle's Arc A580 has a problem: It wants to keep the fans off below 50C, but it ends up turning the fans off and on repeatedly as it can't stay cool enough. Part of the problem is high idle power use of around 50W, but it would be much better to run with a constant 20% fan speed at low temperatures rather than repeatedly turning the fans on and off.

Our Honda Odyssey 2010 had a broken glove box latch. After trying to pick the lock, I noticed the lever mechanism was already sloped downward. I ripped the plastic cover off with some pliers and managed to come in from the side with a flat head screwdriver to get the box open. You can see in this video how the lever and spring mechanism was broken.

Is the game blurry for u?
Have you tried uninstalling outlaws? I kid i kid.. :)
Honestly, I don’t play the game at all … after the first few hours I was done with it. But it’s a recent game with the Snowdrop engine and seemed like a reasonable benchmark option.
Star Wars Outlaws is horribly optimized i got the same issue on Nvidia 4060
I’m excited to see the benchmarks ❤
May the Silicon Gods give us favor and blessings in 2025 - Silicon God Speed
It will likely take a year or more for 4090 refurbs to drop in price, we should see some refurbs come in at microcenter as they trade in for a 5090, I’m going to be tracking stock.
5090 is going to be hard to get, I’m waiting for fooz to test it first. It has a smaller form factor and a big boy bus for dayz. I’m hoping to get an FE 5090 at Best Buy, I’m wondering if Trump tariffs will push FE prices north.
Arent you worried most of your results will be invalidated once they update DLSS? Anything DLSS tested will most likely get different results.
I don’t do a lot of DLSS benchmarks. That’s not my default testing. Everything will get tested at native, and I’ll do some additional tests with DLSS. But the baseline will be native.
How do u turn ur test in to graph benchmarks?
Excel with macros and formulas and custom CSV parsing that I created.
Will anything ever replace my 2080 Ti @60% TDP, probably not. Will smeary AAA games ever stop, probably not. Does that mean I'll stop watching videos on things I'll never buy because I've no use for them.... Probably not Please do a benchmark on an older title pre RT and DLSS at like 16k just so I can gauge generational increase that isn't driver optimisation or slight cues design optimisations just so I can say to myself AHH about 7% increase, which will make no difference because I barely need the power the 2080 Ti has 😂
To be honest I am planning get RTX 5070 Q2, I feel like RTX 4090 Performance is not true I believe is somewhere around RTX 4070 Ti Super, and this Prediction I Think RTX 5070 is going match RTX 4080 if can without Frame Generation, I am using RTX 3050 6 GB and Ryzen 5 5500 and I would give that to my dad business which using Intel Pentium Dual core and I don't know if is a Good Plan for me Get RTX 5070 at Q2 and I am getting Ryzen 7 7700x or Ryzen 7 7800X3D, I have feelings might be hard Get one in My Country which is Malaysia even tho AMD CPU are cheap, so I think I will spend atleast 1200 USD to 1500 USD or 5500 RM to 6500 RM atleast, Thank you for reading, give Ur opinions.
If you look at die sizes and transistor counts, I don’t expect much of a performance increase on the 5070, outside of MFG. The same goes for the 5070 Ti and 5080. Probably be 10~15 percent faster in most non-MFG tasks.
Holy smokes. That's incredibly optimistic. 5070 is 4070 with much much better AI performance. It's not even prediction my friend. Its a fact.
Even that might be overstating things. It has native FP4 support for AI, which is being used for MFG. As far as I can tell that’s the main change.
I can see that with raytracing its much better, its on a whole new level. I enable raytracing in all available games, it makes them much better because the settings say that raytracing is on, which instantly makes it worth every penny.
I have a GIGABYTE Z390 Gaming X Board and use Corsair 32GB (2X16 GB) sticks with 3200 MHz CL 16. I learned today that they were running all the time with 2133 MHz and that I have to go to BIOS to aktivate the XMP profile for 3200. So I did. I saved, rebooted again. All fine. Checked the RAM speed... 3200 MHz as expected. I'm happy and shut down the pc. Now I want to start up again... PC does nothing.. well no.. it trys to boot but shuts down again after 2 oder 3 seconds. I can't even reach the BIOS. 🙄
i struggled for hours until landed on this video. nice catch! thank you
Thanks, this was very helpful!
The light leaking was fixed just a few months ago.
Crazy how things have changed. Enlisted maps are indeed that large, but the detailed and playable area is only 2km^2 max, with each mission being set in only a small region of that 2km^2 area such as a town or something.
Why does it do that
Resonance or hum is heard, tell me, is this sound safe? I have the same at certain speeds
I'm worried that the video card fans might break, or that the card will do nothing except make an annoying sound?
something happening to me bro what should I do.
@@shahriarmahmud6031 I suppose that depends on what happened to you! Maybe visit a doctor?
@@JarredWalton 😂😂😂
It's not that ray tracing is useless, it's that the forza team really done a great job on making the game look beautiful, those reflections and details sure took a lot of work to look like that even without ray tracing 👏👏
crazy difference totally worth the 10 fps difference for nothing 😭
Fyi, if you have this problem, you should be able to still unlock it without having to break it further. First, lock your glove box. That slides that lever over so it can go back above the pin. Then using a screwdriver or pocket knife, hold the lever up. Then unlock your glove box. The lever should now be hooked back on top of the pin. Now use your screwdriver/ pocket knife to push down on the lever. The glove box should open.
Tinkering more with this part I noticed that my particular problem was that the leg was slightly bent, I was going to order a new one but jb weld and a little bit of patience worked for me. Letting the stuff dry I'm 100% that was my issue.
The Denver zoo is my school
I have the same problem but can’t get the lock assembly out . Can you please give more details how did you manage to get it out . Thank you
Basically brute force and destroying the existing handle. That’s about all I can say. Once you’ve ripped the handle off, it’s easier to get at the latch mechanism.
@@JarredWalton Thank you for your reply but I managed to solve it by drilling a whole in the latch back and got access to the internal spring.
@@naadly02hey I’m having the same problem… can elaborate on how you did this
@@DavidFritch I drilled a whole in the lock and got out lose

Uh-huh. I wouldn't call it an improvement. That BEFORE is just a vulgar artifact that we're never even supposed to see. The AFTER is still a highly unstable graphical bug and only suitable for the eyes of beta testers.
Its still an improvement bc it looks better you gormless stick figure
@@cursedcreature9162 yes kid. 1 is more than 2 and 2 is more than 3. In our case, the minimum is somewhere around 92. Both of the above BEFORE/AFTER examples are unacceptable.
@@gurujoe75 And my point is you called it not an improvement which objectively is false, it looks any amount better (your 1 and 2 example) which already makes it an improvement. If it is out of 92 this also goes from 1 to at least 50 :)

I have a Sparkle A750 that's doing the exact same thing. After 6 months the fans are starting to get a little noisy also.
you might want to manually make a fan curve and make it run at low RPM on idle so it doesn't fluctuate like that.
Could you share how you promptly ripped it out? I am having the same exact issue but I don’t want to damage more than I need to
Needlenose pliers, just working bits off the front cover. It took some effort and time. The new hinge came with a cover so I wasn’t worried about it.
Do you have any custom bios? My strix oc at stock on furmark never even reaches 400w. Why is that?
This is the video that worked for me.
How is your game so optimized

hi, have you tried the a770 high idle workarounds? it's been an issue for 40w+ idle draws, but it can be reduced to under 15w at idle. yes, it's a bit tangiential to the fan oscillation, but i'm curious if those apply. off the top of my head, check you are running 4k (one monitor max) or 1080 (two monitor max) at under 60hz, configuring aspm and l1 substate in bios, set power plan to maximum power saving, there's a few other things to check but from my experience with a770le, this dropped my idle to 9w. very very curious if these fixes help the a580, though there may still need to be driver improvements as well to make use of such changes.
I haven't tried all of the workarounds, as many run contrary to getting the best performance and experience from the hardware. Like, I have a 144Hz 4K monitor, and I really don't want to limit it to 60Hz. I also don't want to use the maximum power saving plan. Fundamentally, I just think that if Nvidia GPUs can run at reasonable idle power use with the "balanced" plan, Intel and AMD GPUs should do that as well. I suspect it could also be an issue with the monitor I'm currently using (Acer Predator X27 G-Sync) where somehow the non-Nvidia GPUs end up with higher power draw. But I noticed the same problem using default balanced power plan on a different (older) test PC hooked up to a 60Hz 4K monitor, with the fans turning on and off on the Sparkle card.
ah sorry if i wasn't clear, i was specifically curious as to whether or not those workarounds even work on the a580. of course, you sacrifice performance and quality for lower idles (peak draw will remain the same regardless), but i haven't heard anything about reducing idle draw from any a580 owners at all up to this point. i figured i'd ask you, since you do have one :p functionally yes, finding a used 20 series or radeon 5xxx or 6xxx might be more value, even the a750 can be a better value, but i'm simply interested in what the a580 does. supposedly, the high idle power consumption is a flaw universal to the alchemist gpus, and should be fixed by the time battlemage rolls around.
I think I have the exact same problem. How did you rip the lock have off? I went at mine and just broke the pull piece off where you put your fingers under.
I used some pliers to rip it apart. I couldn’t get it out otherwise.
@@JarredWaltonwhat did you rip apart, the plastic area where the lock/latch is mounted? Did you wreck the glove box door to do it? What I'm asking is, Do I have to grab the metal thing and rip it out of where it's screwed to the plastic, ruining the whole thing?
I've got the latch handle torn off, and the actual lock removed from its circular housing. Do I just grab it now with pliers and wrench it off, breaking the plastic behind that it's mounted to with screws on the inside?
@@sarahalexanian9295 I ripped apart the plastic hinge/latch portion using pliers, but I was able to avoid damaging the glove compartment itself. The latch that you grab to open the glove compartment normally is what I had to "attack." I basically broke off little chunks until I had removed enough that I was able to get a screwdriver tip up into the actual latching mechanism to release it. 0:44 - Once the handle is out of the way, you should be able to get a small-ish screwdriver tip up and to the right to push the spring-loaded latch down. Note that the video at 44 seconds shows the back of the mechanism, but the part on the left (in the video) is what you're trying to get to. So get the screwdriver up and to the right and then try to bring the tip toward you and that should push the spring-loaded latch down.
Got it! Thanks so much for replying! @@JarredWalton
50 watts seems like a lot?
Yeah, for idle that’s at least double to triple what Nvidia GPUs draw.
@@JarredWalton Ultimately you can’t really notice it unless you put a wattage meter on it. Does it maybe sacrifice any performance?
@@pauline.deniseHigh idle power doesn't negatively affect performance, just efficiency. Under load, the card behaves as expected, though the Sparkle card does have a higher TDP than reference. It averaged about 195W where the reference TDP is 185W.
@@JarredWalton Yeah just those minor inconveniences that make your computer less reliable over time. Just one last question though, I would have to guess that the it is slightly louder. Am I right?
@@pauline.deniseThat was the point of this video, to show how the fans turn on and off and thus create more noise - this is only happening on this Sparkle Arc A580, at least as far as I've tested, though I would expect similar behavior on other Sparkle cards. The high idle power is part of that, because without an active fan, the GPU temperature doesn't stay below 50C. Lots of graphics cards (just about everything released in the past five years) will turn the fans off when the GPU temperature is below 40C, and then don't turn them on until the GPU temperature breaks 45C or 50C. Nvidia's RTX 4090 idles at around 25W, though, and with a large heatsink it typically sits at 35C-45C and doesn't ever need to turn on the fans until a heavier load gets launched. AMD's RX 7900 XT/XTX for sure have a similar issue with some monitors right now where idle power is in the 70-80 watts range, and so they have to periodically turn on the fans as well. Unlike Sparkle, the AMD cards I've used normally don't have the fan on and fan off at the same ~50C. They do fans on at 50C and off at 40C, which means when the fans do turn on (at low RPM), they'll run for a minute or two at least rather than cycling every 5-10 seconds.
After lots of fix advices on Reddit, Nvidia Forums and same kind of places i was still having the issue that comes with nvidia broadcast. Today UA-cam algorithm suggested me this video :) and tadaaa the fix is here for me. I won't say "That is the real fix" because as far as i can see other proposed fixes also worked for some of other guys and i was not the lucky one. And this fix witch proposed by Jarred is saved my day. First of all this video includes only speech and face cam so i want to break it down step by step for you guys who are not able to use CC :P As Jarred mentioned there are 2 .exe files -> audiodg.exe and Nvidia Broadcast.exe 1- Open task manager go to Details tab (on windows 11 it is the 7th one on the left side i guess) and find audiodg.exe -> Right click to it and set "Set Priority" to Real Time. 2- again right click to audiodg.exe and click Set Affinity, uncheck all your cores and only select the last one 3- find Nvidia Broadcast.exe -> Right click to it and set "Set Priority" to Real Time. 4- again right click to Nvidia Broadcast.exe and click Set Affinity, uncheck all your cores and only select the second or third last core. (i had 8 cores which means 0 to 7 and i selected the 6th one) I was lucky to find Jarred's video, thanks for your fix Jarred ! :) Have a nice, healthy and wealthy life hehe

There's a clear difference, you just don't know what you're looking at. But I'm a game dev, so my eyes are different. Most people won't even know what to look for. But never you forget that things only look as good as they do without RT because of thousands of work hours by artists.
